Courtesy Pay

What is Courtesy Pay?

If you qualify for Courtesy Pay and do not have Overdraft Protection or available funds in your checking account, instead of returning an item because of Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) the Credit Union may pay the item. While the Credit Union charges a fee per transaction, this service may save you from the fees that merchants or other institutions charge for a returned NSF transaction. In addition to protecting your credit rating, with Courtesy Pay you may also avoid the delay and embarrassment of having your debit card transactions declined at the checkout counter. Members with qualified premium checking accounts may authorize the Credit Union to pay for debit card purchases made at a store, online or by telephone when there are not available funds in the account.

You may be eligible for Courtesy Pay privileges on checks, Bill Payer and ACH transactions if:

  • you have a checking account in good standing.
  • you have your checking account with us for at least 30 days.
  • you make regular deposits to that account.
  • bring your account back to a positive balance regularly.
  • there are no legal orders against the account.

Overdrafts may be paid with your Courtesy Pay funds up to the limits mentioned previously for the following types of transactions:

  • Checks
  • Bill Payer
  • ACH or other electronic means
  • POS/Debit Card transactions only with opt-in authorization

This non-contractual courtesy of paying overdrafts is not a loan and costs nothing unless the privilege is used. The fact that we may honor withdrawal requests that overdraw the available account balance does not obligate us to do so later.

Courtesy Pay does not assist with ensuring timely payments or addressing overdue payments on your Eglin FCU loan or credit card.
